The site of a new eco-village start up F27E7KNJZDFB
There’s something happening in Whanganui.
It’s not exactly what we had planned here, but it’s real and it’s happening right now.
A group of 5 like minded people have purchases 12 hectares of land on the outskirts of Whanganui. They have obtained planning permission to create a small village with ten building sites (each 1/5 of an acre) clustered in a co-housing style on the flatest land. The rest of the land is held in common, available to members for things like growing vegetables. They already have an established democratic decision making process the land is organic. This is also the most affordable existing eco-village I’ve yet seen.
Sarah and I are planning to visit the site in November and meet the people involved. There are currently 5 sites available, at 75k. If you’re as excited about this as we are, get in contact. We have site plans an more information we can share, and can put you in touch.
